The Society for Anthropological Sciences invites contributions for the H. Russell Bernard Student Paper Prize ($500.00) and two Travel Awards ($300.00 each) for students presenting material at the upcoming Society of Anthropological Sciences Spring Meeting at the Society for Applied Anthropology 79th Annual Meeting, Portland, OR, March 19-23, 2019. These awards are given by the Society to recognize superior contributions to the scholarly record by students working in scientific anthropology, broadly construed.
To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student at the time your abstract was accepted, and you must be presenting your paper/poster at the upcoming meetings in a SASci, SfAA, or co-sponsor session. This is an important professional credential on your CV, as well as providing financial support for your scholarly work. SAS professional members: please encourage your eligible students to submit!
To be eligible for the paper prize, submit a full paper manuscript only (no posters/powerpoints). Submissions for the paper prize will automatically be considered for the travel awards as well.
Students submitting for the travel awards may submit a paper, completed poster, or annotated Powerpoint presentation. Submissions in Word, PDF, or Powerpoint format only please.
Submissions co-authored by a student and a non-student (e.g. faculty member) are eligible if the student is the primary author. In this case, please include a statement of relative contribution to the work under consideration including the emails of all contributors.
All submissions should be sent by email to Stephen Chrisomalis at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Monday, March 18. Awards will be adjudicated by the award committee (Stephen Chrisomalis, Douglas Hume, and H. J. François Dengah II) and awarded at the Business Meeting in Portland.
For any questions, contact Stephen Chrisomalis at email@example.com.
