Believe it or not, it’s that time of year when we need to start planning for the annual AAA meetings in San Jose (14-18 November 2018). The submission portal will open tomorrow:
The program committee (me, Doug Hume, Stephen Chrisomalis and our President, Murray Leaf), are very keen to see a strong pool of SAS relevant papers and panels this year and we’re happy to work with you to try and match people with overlapping interests. Please write to me in the first instance with ideas about panels that you may be thinking about putting together and I’ll see how we can help.
Here’s just a reminder of what you might want to think about:
DATES: February 16th marks the opening for abstract submissions for all proposal types. The deadline for all submissions to the AAA website is 3 PM EDT on Monday, April 16, 2017.
SESSION TYPES: AAA leadership is committed to supporting a variety of session types this year. There’s still a place for conventional paper panels, but there’s also space for creatively and strategically matching content to medium in the form of:
- poster panels
- mentoring events
- retrospective sessions (intended to highlight career contributions of leading scholars)
- “flash” (or rapid fire, 5 minute) presentations
- installations (“meant to disrupt who and what we tend to see” at the Annual Meeting
